My Encounter with An Organic Rice Farm

Did you know that there is a beautiful organic rice farm in Johor, southern Malaysia? Many of my friends cannot believe this fact when I told them about my discovery in December 2007. Simply because all the rice fields are located in northern Malaysia, so this latest fact is conflicting with what we all used to believe.

This was my first experience with a REAL rice farm in the life! The farm is huge to the point that I couldn't see its border by standing in the middle of the farm. The vast blue sky just makes me speechless. For those who stays in urban area, you just cannot imagine this unless you experience it! Besides their main products that is organic brown rice , there are also various organic vegetables and 10,000 + dragonfruit trees on the farm. A lovely water lilies pond with the bamboo rafts parking along its bank. By sailing the raft heading 45 degree angle, you will reach the rabbit island. Oh.... the furry rabbits are so adorable and they always hop around their heavenly island.

I have not cycled for years and years especially on the kampung (means village in Malay Language) paths. It takes more effort to peddle and really challenges my riding skills. I cycle everytime I visit the farm. The bike becomes very handy because it can take me to as far as 3km away to the nearby dam.

After my encounter with the farm, I started to learn about organic, why it is important and how it is going to help to preserve the natural resources. There are so much to learn and I am eager to share all the new knowledge that I gained from this farm with you.
